Professional Appliance Wiring & Dedicated Circuit Installation in Utah

New appliances pull more power than the ones they replace. A modern induction range, double wall oven, or heat-pump dryer needs a properly sized dedicated circuit, the right breaker, and the right receptacle. Hooking a 50A range up to an old 40A circuit is how outlets melt and breakers trip every time you preheat.

We wire appliances for Utah homeowners and during kitchen remodels: ranges, ovens, induction cooktops, electric dryers, gas-with-electric-igniter appliances, microwaves and microwave drawers, dishwashers, garbage disposals, beverage and wine fridges, ice makers, instant hot water dispensers, and built-in steam ovens. Sized correctly, run cleanly, and coordinated with your delivery date.

Why hire a pro for appliance wiring

Benefits of Professional Appliance Wiring

Sized to the appliance

We pull the spec from your appliance manual, size the wire and breaker exactly right, and install the receptacle the cord actually wants.

No melted plugs, no nuisance trips

Undersized circuits overheat plugs, trip breakers, and damage appliances. Properly sized circuits just work, year after year.

Ready on delivery day

We coordinate timing with your delivery so the receptacle is live and the appliance hooks up the moment it lands in your kitchen or laundry room.

Appliance Wiring Questions

Appliance Wiring FAQs for Utah Homeowners

Dedicated 240V appliance receptacle installed by O'Bray Electric in a Utah kitchen
Does my new range really need its own circuit?

Yes. Electric and induction ranges almost always need their own dedicated 240V circuit, usually 40A or 50A depending on the model. Sharing a circuit with anything else is a code violation and a fire risk. We pull a new circuit if your existing one is undersized or shared.

Can you switch my outlet from a 3-prong (NEMA 10-30) to a 4-prong (NEMA 14-30) for my new dryer?

Yes. New dryers ship with 4-prong cords because the National Electrical Code now requires a separate ground. We replace the receptacle and, if needed, pull a new 4-conductor circuit so the dryer is grounded properly. It's a common upgrade we do every week.

I'm switching from gas to induction. What's involved electrically?

Induction cooktops and ranges typically need a dedicated 40A or 50A 240V circuit. If you're swapping a gas range for induction, that circuit usually doesn't exist yet and has to be added. We run the new circuit, install the proper receptacle, and coordinate with the appliance delivery.

Do you wire built-in appliances like wall ovens and microwave drawers?

Yes. We wire built-in wall ovens, microwave drawers, warming drawers, steam ovens, built-in coffee makers, and similar appliances. Each one needs the right circuit and the right hookup, hardwired or receptacle depending on the model.

Will I need a panel upgrade for a new range, oven, or dryer?

Usually not for a single appliance. Adding multiple high-draw appliances at once (induction + double oven + EV charger + AC) is where panel upgrades start to make sense. We run a real load calc and only recommend an upgrade if you actually need one.

How much does appliance wiring cost in Utah?

Most single dedicated-circuit installs run $400 to $1,200 depending on distance from the panel, finish-out, and breaker. A receptacle swap (NEMA 10-30 to 14-30) runs $200 to $400 if the circuit already supports it. We give a firm written quote before any work.

Can you coordinate with my appliance delivery?

Yes. We schedule the wiring to be done before delivery and stay flexible if your appointment moves. The goal is for your appliance to hook up the day it lands.

Will my appliance warranty stay valid?

Yes. Manufacturer warranties require properly sized circuits, the correct receptacle, and licensed installation when hardwired. We follow the manual exactly so your warranty stays intact.
