Your electrical panel is the heart of your home
Your panel decides how much power your home can safely deliver. Older 100A panels and brands like Federal Pacific, Zinsco, and Pushmatic struggle with modern loads, and many were never built to handle today's AC, induction ranges, EV chargers, hot tubs, or finished basements.
We upgrade Utah homes from 100A to 200A or 400A, install subpanels for garages and additions, and replace failing breakers with the right protection. Every job includes a real load calculation, a permit, and a clean install your inspector will sign off on the first time.

Why upgrade your panel
Benefits of a Modern Electrical Panel
Power for everything you own
AC, EV charger, hot tub, induction range, dryer, all on at once with no nuisance trips and no overloaded breakers.
Safer home, lower risk
Modern AFCI and GFCI breakers detect arcs and ground faults before they start a fire or shock someone.
Ready for resale and remodels
A 200A panel removes a top inspection finding on home sales and unlocks every remodel, addition, or appliance upgrade.

Panel Upgrade Questions
Electrical Panel FAQs for Utah Homeowners

How do I know if my panel needs an upgrade?
Common signs are breakers tripping often, lights flickering, a warm or buzzing panel, or running out of breaker space. It also comes up when you're adding an EV charger, hot tub, AC, or finished basement. Older brands like Federal Pacific, Zinsco, and Pushmatic should be replaced regardless of symptoms because the breakers themselves are unreliable.
Should I go to 200A or 400A?
200A handles most modern Utah homes including an EV charger, AC, and a hot tub. 400A makes sense for larger homes, homes with two EVs, electric heating, a workshop, or a planned ADU. We run a load calculation before recommending a size so you don't overpay or undersize.
How much does a panel upgrade cost in Utah?
Expect $2,500 to $5,500 for a straightforward 100A to 200A upgrade, more for service mast work, meter relocations, or 400A. Subpanels usually run $1,500 to $3,000. We give a firm written quote after the on-site assessment with no surprise charges.
How long will my power be out during the upgrade?
Typically 4 to 8 hours on the day of the swap. We coordinate the utility disconnect and reconnect so the outage window is predictable. Most jobs are done in a single day.
Do you handle the permit?
Yes. We pull the electrical permit, schedule the inspection, and meet the inspector on site. You don't have to call the city or coordinate with Rocky Mountain Power. We handle all of it.
What's the difference between a panel upgrade and a full replacement?
A panel upgrade usually means a larger service and a new panel. A panel replacement is a like-for-like swap when the existing panel is failing or recalled but you don't need more capacity. We'll tell you which you actually need.
Can you repair my existing breakers instead of replacing the panel?
Yes. If the panel itself is healthy and modern, we can replace failing breakers, add AFCI or GFCI protection, and repair bus or lug damage. We only recommend a full upgrade when it's actually warranted.
Will I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?
Sometimes. Many 100A panels can handle a Level 2 charger with load management, but a 200A panel is usually the cleaner long-term answer. We run the load calc and tell you what will actually work.
