Charge at home overnight with a properly installed EV charger

A Level 2 home charger fills your EV in 4 to 10 hours instead of the 24 to 60 a standard outlet takes. For most Utah drivers it pays for itself in fuel savings inside a year, and it means leaving every morning with a full battery.

We've installed dozens of home EV chargers across Salt Lake, Tooele, Davis, and Utah counties, plus commercial stations like the one at Smith's in Millcreek. We help you choose the right charger for your vehicle, run a real load calc against your panel, and handle the install end to end including permit and inspection.

Why install a Level 2 charger

Benefits of a Home EV Charger

Full battery every morning

Level 2 charging adds 25 to 40 miles of range per hour. Plug in at night, leave with a full battery, skip the public charging detour.

Cheaper than gas

Home charging in Utah runs roughly 4 to 5 cents per mile compared to 12 to 18 cents per mile on gas. Most homeowners recover the install in 12 to 18 months.

Installed to code, not a YouTube guess

Dedicated 40A or 50A circuit, proper breaker, GFCI where required, and a load calc against your real panel. No melted plugs, no nuisance trips.

EV Charger Questions

EV Charger Installation FAQs for Utah Homeowners

Tesla Wall Connector installed in a Utah garage by O'Bray Electric
Which EV charger should I buy?

For Tesla owners, the Tesla Wall Connector is hard to beat on price and aesthetics. For non-Tesla EVs we usually recommend a hardwired universal J1772 charger like ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, or Emporia. We'll walk you through options that fit your vehicle, panel, and budget without trying to upsell you on a charger you don't need.

Will I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger?

Sometimes yes, often no. Many Utah homes with a 100A or 150A panel can run a Level 2 charger with load management, which automatically reduces charger output when the home is drawing heavily. We run a load calc first, then tell you the truth instead of selling you a panel upgrade you don't need.

Hardwired or NEMA 14-50 plug?

Hardwired is safer, allows higher amperage, and is required for some chargers. NEMA 14-50 is more flexible if you might move the charger or take it with you. Hardwired is what we recommend for most homes.

How much does EV charger installation cost in Utah?

Most home installs run $800 to $2,500 depending on panel location, wire run length, and whether you need load management or a panel upgrade. Long runs from panel to garage on the opposite side of the house cost more. We give a firm written quote after the on-site assessment.

How long does installation take?

Most installs are done in 3 to 6 hours on a single day once the permit is approved. Total timeline from first call to charging is usually 1 to 2 weeks.

Can you repair my existing EV charger?

Yes. We troubleshoot chargers that won't power on, throw error codes, charge slowly, or trip the breaker. We also replace failing chargers and rewire when the original install was done wrong.

Do you install commercial EV chargers?

Yes. We've done commercial Level 2 stations for Utah businesses including the one at Smith's in Millcreek. We handle the load calc, permit, mounting, wiring, and bollards.

Will the install void my Tesla warranty?

No. Licensed installation is what Tesla requires. We're a licensed Utah Master Electrician and the install will not affect your vehicle or charger warranty.
